Debbie is currently a full time Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and am a doctorly-prepared Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She has extensive professional experience in the field of pediatrics and lactation, beginning with her training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Followed by her involvement with the Health Department’s Pediatric clinic and high-risk pregnancy public health program, she then joined her husband and served in the U.S. Peace Corps Nepal within the Nepali Maternal Child Health rural clinic program. She continues to practice as a pediatric NP in primary care and IBCLC along with her full-time faculty teaching responsibilities.
Debbie is active on several professional committees, including the elected Secretary of NAPNAP (National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners) Breastfeeding Special Interest Group, the Pennsylvania’s Department of Health’s Breastfeeding Department, and as a member of the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition (MBC). She recently became an MBC representative for the U.S Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) Breastfeeding in the Workplace national group. She is greatly looking forward to assisting families with their own unique breastfeeding goals and challenges.
