Roberta MargotRN, BSN, IBCLC
For the past seven years, Roberta has worked as a Board Certified Lactation Consultant helping new parents breastfeed in the hospital, outpatient clinic, and home. Prior to 2009, she spent over a decade of a 40-year registered nursing career working as a pediatric office nurse in a busy local practice.
Roberta’s passion for breastfeeding was sparked even before the birth of her first (of 6!) babies back in 1978. Although lactation support at that time was limited to a few books, and an occasional La Leche meeting, she knew instinctively that it was the normal and natural way to nourish babies. Somehow, she and her friends worked through any problems and “figured it out.” Little did she know then, once convincing a friend to give breastfeeding a try, that thirty years later this would become her life’s work.
Roberta’s experiences and education have taught her that, while nursing one’s child can be a deeply rewarding and empowering part of parenting, it does not come easily for everyone. Her goal is always to provide compassionate, evidenced-based lactation support, and help families cherish their bond, however it unfolds.
In her spare time, Roberta enjoys traveling with her husband, Skip, Italian cooking, gardening, and especially spending time with her grown children and three adorable, breastfed, grandchildren!
