    IBCLC Lactation Consultant

Bianca Flokstra has built her career around addressing food injustice internationally and locally. She has worked with large and small non-profits and the United States Agency for International Development in promoting food security around the world through agriculture, economic development, water and sanitation, and maternal and child nutrition. She currently focuses on 'first foods' by helping parents and infants with lactation as a IBCLC Board Certified Lactation Consultant at the Metropolitan Breastfeeding Center. Bianca is an active member of the DC Breastfeeding Coalition and the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition. Bianca’s passion for breastfeeding/chestfeeding began in her own journey as a mother and experiencing the lack of support in the perinatal world, especially around providing human milk. She now has three busy children and loves supporting parents perinatally around the DC region. Bianca has her BA in Business Management and Marketing and her MA in International Economic Development. She is Red Cross certified in Basic Life Support for adults, infants and children.
